A Message from Elizabeth City State University
One of the most important things to do when you step into living on your own is to protect your valuables. While we hope you never have to use it, insurance is important to have should an incident occur and your property is damaged. Please be aware neither the university nor the Office of Housing & Residence Life are able to cover damage to student property.
Items left behind or stored on campus are the responsibility of each student. The university is not responsible for any damage/theft/vandalism or other issues that may occur. The university recommends students utilize personal property insurance coverage to protect stored items.
The University Room and Board Agreement states: "The University shall assume no responsibility for the theft, destruction, or loss of money, valuables, or personal property belonging to, or in the custody of the Student, for any cause whatsoever whether such losses occur in student rooms, storage rooms, public areas, elsewhere in the apartment, on campus, or in baggage being shipped or stored. The College encourages the Student to carry personal property insurance."
